An escaped Curry County inmate is now behind bars in Texas after police tracked him down Thursday morning.

The Dimmitt police department says they found 29 year old Guadalupe Rodriguez in a local motel.

Someone had seen a picture of Rodriguez during NewsChannel 10's NightCast... and later  recognized him at a convenience store.

That person gave police the tip they needed to find Rodriquez, he is now behind bars in Castro County and will soon be transported back to Clovis.

Jail officials believe Rodriguez escaped from the Curry County Detention Center Saturday, but jail officials did not notice he was gone for two more days.

It is believed a number of security lapses gave Rodriquez the oppurtunity to slip out of the jail.

A damaged door, broken cameras, and a simple ruse may have helped a Curry County inmate to escape from jail. NewsChannel 10's
