Cleaner Air at Owens Corning

A new generator is now being used at a local plant that is benefiting the environment and Amarillo.

Owens Corning opened their oxygen generator this morning.  The new generator uses less natural gas and emits less nitrogen into the air.

Plant leader Art Richards says they started it up to reduce emissions and operating costs.

"The air we breath is 21% oxygen. This plant generates 95% pure oxygen and that results in lower emissions and a better operating cost because we don't use natural gas to heat up the nitrogen in the air we breath."

Richards also says that the new generator helps off set costs of natural gas and keeps the plant nationally competitive.
