Travel Smooth Out of Amarillo Airport

Thousands of travelers may have seen delays before boarding flights this holiday season...but not at the Amarillo International Rick Husband Airport.

NewsChannel 10's Felicia Lafuente is live at the airport with more on why flights are running smoothly.

Passengers arriving early and following the FAA'a new 3-1-1 rules are helping to reduce wait times . 3-1-1 refers to new regulations reguarding liquids and gels in carry-on bags.

Liquids and gels can be no more than a 3 ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring.

So far, only a few travelers have broken the 3-1-1 security guidelines.

We spoke with many travelers about how flying this holiday season compares to years  past .
Twyla Moon was pleasenty surprised, "It's been very good, I came out early thinking it would be crowded...but we were able to get in really quick."

Airport officials say because travelers are obeying the rules and arriving early, the average wait time to check-in is three minutes.
