Christmas Eve Killer Sentenced

A judge sentenced a Farmington man to 16 years in prison for last years Christmas Eve murder in the parking lot of a Clovis hotel. 

72-year old Jimmy Lloyd Bentley was convicted of second degree murder for the 2005 Christmas Eve shooting death of Joseph Phillips Jr. He must serve at least 85% of the sentence before he can apply for parole.

Prosecutors say the shooting was racially motivated while Bentley's attorney's claim the shooting was done in self defense.
