Teen Heroes Honored

Two Caprock teens are honored today after they risked their lives to save an elderly woman a month ago.

16-year-old Andrew Santos and 17-year-old Alex Ballin were given the Citizen Heroism Award at Caprock High School this morning.

The boys rescued 93-year-old Vivian Thomas from her home which exploded last month. Thomas did pass away a week after being saved by the boys, but for Thomas's  daughter, Sherrie Green,  that week meant everything to her.  "I think the most important part I have received from this is you gave me precious moments with my mom in the last days between the time of the accident and the time of her death."

Thomas's family was at the ceremony along with members of the Amarillo Fire Department, and the Mayor.

The pair received a plaque for their courageous efforts from the Amarillo Fire Department.
