Ultrasound Tech

Position Summary:

The Ultrasound Technologist shall operate the equipment to produce optimal ultrasound studies for Radiologist interpretation.  Some call required. 

Qualifications:

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration/Competence:
  • ARRT- MRT acceptable with proven competencies in ultrasound
  • ARDMS- RVT required, but will allow up to one year to complete certification,
  • CCI-RVS acceptable

           

Experience Preferred:

  • Prefer 1-3 year's experience in hospital setting, but consider a new graduate. 
  • Pediatric Experience

  

Special Skills/Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform routine ultrasound procedures
  • Vascular Experience to include Venous Doppler and Carotid Studies

  • Reports To:    Director of Radiology Services
  • Supervises:     0

Education:

  • Technical or Vocational Training

Age of Patients Served:

  • Neonatal / Infant to Geriatric

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts
  • Blood born pathogen exposure
  • Exposure to potential electrical shock

Working Conditions:

INSIDE:  Spends approximately 100% or more of time inside.  Inside work has good ventilation, comfortable temperature

Work Positions (defined in 10% increments of work time)  Sitting:  10%   Standing: 30%  Walking: 60%

Physical  Demands:

  • HEAVY WORK: Lifting 100 lbs maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull with assistance (mechanical or co-worker) the weight of the average patient specific to the department
  • On Call Work
  • Perform Shift Work

Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be able to provide routine ultrasound procedures to include abdominal, pelvic to include OB
  • Basic computer skills
