'Day of the Dead' Finds New Life

A centuries-old tradition finds new expression in the hands of young college students.

Newschannel 10's Julia Bagg explains.

Themes of life and death blend easily in the works of Amarillo College artists... On exhibition for the Mexican Holiday...the Day of the Dead.

For the faithful in Latin America...it's a day of visiting cemeteries and bridging the gap between this life and the next.

Julie Beddow a supervisor at the Amarillo College Lynn Library explains the meaning behind the traditions,  "It's a celebration, it's an honor of those who have passed away and another opportunity to visit and talk with them...to partake in the death and the afterlife."

Beddow hopes the work of student artists will draw attention to a vibrant cultural tradition.
