It was a very emotional day in Guymon as friends and family said goodbye to a local hero.

Joshua Pearce had served two and a half years when he was killed in Iraq. Today he was laid to rest in his hometown.

Joshua had enlisted in the US Army right after graduating from Guymon in 2003. The 21 year old Specialist was killed last Sunday when his Army vehicle struck an explosive device near Baghdad.

Hundreds of people came from all over the United States today to honor the young man's life.

Also members of the Guymon community came out to pay tribute to their friend and hero.

Along with the American flag, yellow ribbons were seen at the First Baptist Church and at the cemetery where a full military honor was given.
