Asarco Celebrates Being Back To Work

Two and a half months after Asarco employees ended their strike they decide to celebrate. Asarco members were treated to a welcome back dinner Saturday night at the Ritz Hotel. Employees went on strike last July because they had no contract and wanted better benefits.

The strike ended in November and the last employee was called back to work. Union officials say there are still problems, but things are on good terms for right now.

"It's looking real good, we're getting our customers back. Asarco out here has an extremely good reputation, we're known as the vendor of choice, we turn out the highest quality of copper you're going to get in North America," says Les Huntington, Union President.

Huntington says everything is moving along well and employees are happy to be receiving their paychecks once again.
