AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Palo Duro Dons are at home once again this week hosting cross town rivals Tascosa this Thursday at Dick Bivens. For Tascosa they're coming off of a loss to their heated rival Amarillo high while the Dons are confident after putting it all together last week in a great showing against Plainview but head coach Chris Fisher knows they will have their work cut out for them this week.
"We felt good for about twelve hours after Plainview and then we popped on the Tascosa film. They're a very talented team, they do a lot of things well and they're very well coached. Coach Plunk is the standard around here. He's done it the longest and has a long line of success so we have our work cut out for us.", said Coach Fisher.
While the Rebels aren't to concerned about their 1-1 record Coach Plunk does want his team to start coming together on both sides of the ball. In week one Tascosa won a tight one against Abilene and last week fatigue seemed to creep on the Rebels in the second half as they allowed the Sandies to comeback and take the win. This week the Rebel defense has another challenge ahead of them with Palo Duro's offense finally starting to click.
"This is a big game. It's every bit as big as the game we had last week. We just obviously didn't get it done last week and go play to big back to back games and that takes a toll on you but we've prepared well and we're going to give it all we have on Thursday.", said Coach Plunk. "I think the biggest challenge will be that it's an inner city game and they'll be a lot of emotions for the game. They are explosive offensively, we'll have to control the quarterback and keep him in the pocket, and do a good job with our corner covering their receivers."
