AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

The Amarillo Fire Department will be joining other local first responders on Tuesday to remember and honor the nearly 3,000 people killed in the September 11th tragedy.

The ceremony is Tuesday morning at 8:30 at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial.

The ceremony will start will an invocation by the AFD Chaplain.

The Amarillo Fire Department Pipes and Drums, Amarillo Police Department Rifle Team, as well as honor guards from both departments will be participating in the event.

Amarillo Fire Department firefighters honor those who sacrificed on 9/11

This weekend five Amarillo firefighters participated in the Dallas 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, climbing 110 stories in full gear.

Each year hundreds of first responders make the climb, honoring the sacrifices of local heroes and the public safety professionals who perished on nine-eleven.
