AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - A Philadelphia organization, Bike & Build, made a pit stop in Amarillo today to help build housing for local residents.
Bike & Build left Jacksonville Beach, Florida on May 10 for a trek across the country, stopping in Amarillo along the way.
Team members partnered with Amarillo Habitat for Humanity to build Habitat's 112th home. The home is being built for the Aguilar family made up of Crystal Aguilar, her two children and her niece.
In order to qualify for a Habitat home, families must complete 500 hours of "sweat equity" by volunteering on other families' homes or other projects for the organization. Crytal Aguilar has surpassed this requirement by completing over 720 hours of volunteer work.
Bike & Build will leave here and continue their journey, making a final stop in Santa Cruz, California.
