The Hutchinson County Sheriff's Office says they received a call on a possible home invasion around 2:45 a.m. at a home in Carson County.

When the suspect, identified as Cameron Merriman, was confronted by deputies, he jumped in his vehicle and fled the scene.

During the chase, officials say he attempted to ram the deputy vehicles.

The high speed chase ended at Lake Meredith in the Harbor Bay area when Merriman drove down the R and R boat ramp and into the water.

He then swam out of sight, but park rangers were able to take him into custody.

Officials say Merriman sustained non-life threatening injuries in the incident and remains hospitalized.
