AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - One firefighter was injured after a fire broke out at a home in Amarillo.
Around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Amarillo firefighters were dispatched to the 700 block of southwest 17th Avenue.
Heavy smoke was pouring from the structure when the crews arrived.
The fire broke out of the rear of the house and began to burn the roof.
With the help of eight units and 26 firefighters, the blaze was contained just before 8:00 p.m.
A firefighter suffered heat exhaustion during containment efforts and was transported for medical treatment.
Their injuries are non-life threatening.
The home was abandoned and unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Amarillo fire officials are investigating the official cause.
