TRAFFIC ALERT: 287 NB & SB Lanes north of city moving slowly due to a cattle truck accident

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The north and southbound lanes starting at 287 & Givens close to mile marker 120 north of the city are moving slowly due to a cattle truck accident.

Officials say a semi-truck rolled over six miles south of the Moore County line.

Crews are attempting to recapture between 30-40 cattle that are roaming the highway over a three mile radius.

Motorists should avoid the area.

The semi-truck will be turned upright and removed within the next two hours.

The NB & SB 287 lanes at Givens were shut down for close to 4 hours as crews worked to locate cattle and clear the scene.

Northbound traffic was being detoured to Tascosa Rd. up 385 to Dumas.

The driver of the semi was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
