AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Amarillo College is currently working on ways to prepare and provide local small businesses with access to new technology, such as artificial intelligence, bio-science and robotics.
"We think in terms of embracing technology, rethinking processes and having us as support for their business, as it exists now, but preparing their business for a future that may look really different over the next 10 years," said Amarillo College President Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart.
Dr. Lowery-Hart added Amarillo has the people and talent needed to turn out city into a technology hub.
He also said it's important for small businesses to have support from their local communities.
"Given how isolated we are and how independent we are, it's important we're committed as a community," said Dr. Lowery-Hart. "We can help each other solve the problems that the future may present," said Dr. Lowery-Hart.
He said there is no reason our local small businesses need to travel to larger cities for opportunity.
Amarillo College school officials said the entire process could take up to anywhere from a year to 18 months to complete.
