Crews will be improving multiple aspects of the jail's construction, including the addition of a 13,793 square foot housing unit.

Renovations will also include the improvement of the old booking area on site, as well as the addition of a new pre-booking area.

A new visitation center is also in the works, according to Curry County.

Groundbreaking will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22 and will be open to the public.

The project will be funded by a gross receipts tax bond that was authorized in December of 2014.

The project is estimated to be completed by October 2019.
