Around 12:00 p.m., the Parmer County Sheriff's Office received a call about an animal welfare concern.

Two U-Haul trucks were stopped by the Farwell Police Department and Parmer County Sheriff's Office officials.

Officials say one truck was carrying 38 dairy goats, and the other truck was carrying seven goats, 58 chickens, five turkeys, three guinea pigs, two chinchillas and four dogs.

The animals were overheated and in distress with no water available to them. The inside of the truck was 95 degrees.

Officials say the animals were being transported from Colorado to Florida.

The two drivers were arrested for cruelty to animals and have been booked into the Parmer County Jail.
