BORGER, TX (KFDA) - Residents in Borger no longer need to boil their water.
According to the City of Borger, the public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of water to residents who were impacted by a water main break on Tuesday.
As of this morning, the test results indicated that water no longer needs to be boiled.
The original boil water notice included all residents north of Wilson Street, but on Wednesday, officials said residents on the south side of Wilson may have been affected as well. They were also asked to boil their water.
The outage began on Tuesday afternoon when officials say a contractor bored into a water line and damaged the line between the Water Treatment Plant and the elevated water tank on Eleventh Street.
It is estimated that this issue impacted almost 6,500 residents in about 3,000 houses.
Officials estimate that more than 1,100,000 gallons of water were lost before crews could shut off the pipeline.
