AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Work will begin this week on new signals at the intersection of I-40 and Georgia Street.
A contractor for the Texas Department of Transportation will begin signal work where the eastbound and westbound Interstate 40 frontage roads intersect with Georgia Street.
Motorists should watch for J. Lee Milligan crews moving electrical wiring to facilitate the widening work on the westbound frontage road.
Weather permitting, this work is scheduled to take place between 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 30 and 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 1.
This work will require shutting off electric service to the signals for a few hours.
The intersection will have stop signs placed in all directions and will operate under a full stop while the work is completed.
As work on this project progresses, the contractor expects to close the I-40 westbound exit to Georgia Street by mid-May for approximately one month.
Drivers are reminded to stay alert, follow all traffic signs, and adjust speed when traveling through a work zone.
