CLOVIS, N.M. (KFDA) -

The Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority is taking another step forward in building its water delivery system to eastern New Mexico communities.

The agency is now accepting bids of their proposed water pipeline's next stage of construction, known as Finished Water 2.

This 7.5 mile portion of the pipeline will begin northwest of Cannon AFB and continue south and east toward Epcor's water storage system located on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Brady Avenue in Clovis.

The FW2 phase will allow the water authority to utilize the pipeline in the interim, while it continues to work building toward Ute Reservoir.

According to ENMWUA, this should eventually provide communities with up to 16,450-acre feet annual supply of renewable surface water.
