AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Girl Scout Troop 5013 showed gratitude for emergency workers on Saturday with a cookout.
The troop gathered at Memorial Park in Amarillo to serve a meal to first responders throughout the Panhandle.
Of course, they also served Girl Scout Cookies.
Scouts from the troop said that emergency workers provide an invaluable service for their communities.
"They help our community and they save people, especially the AMS people and the EMTs," said the scouts. "They put out fires and the police officers help and make sure there's no crime."
"They hammer out the crime!" they added.
The Girl Scouts held the cookout as part of their service learning project.
