AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - An Amarillo man faces 10 years to life in prison after pleading guilty Thursday to attempted enticement of a minor.
Weston Scott Langwell, 26, also faces a $250,000 fine and five years to life of supervised release.
According to court documents, on November 13, 2017, Langwell responded to a Craigslist advertisement that was placed by Texas Department of Public Safety agents.
An agent posing as a 16-year-old girl was texting Langwell, stating she was almost 17. After Langwell learned the alleged age, officials say he almost immediately turned the conversation sexual.
The next day, Langwell sent a nude photograph of himself along with a sexually explicit text message and suggested they meet up.
Langwell and the officer agreed to meet in person the next day. After Langwell arrived to the prearranged meeting sight, law enforcement moved in and arrested him.
Agents reported finding condoms and a bottle of lubricant in his possession. Agents also sent a text message to Langwell's phone to confirm it was the same phone used to communicate with the under cover officer.
Langwell will remain in custody until his sentencing hearing scheduled for August 8, 2018.
