AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - To better support the focus on health programming in the Panhandle, AgriLife Extension Services has hired a new chronic disease specialist.
Miquela Smith joined the team this month and will help the program provide families with knowledge and resources to take control of their health.
She is familiar with the Panhandle area because she has been the family and community health agent for Lipscomb County since 2016.
"We look forward to Ms. Smith's leadership and guidance of the family and community health agents and the health coalitions in each of the targeted counties," said Dr. Angela Burkham, AgriLife Extension state program leader.
Smith says the new program will help demonstrate AgriLife's commitment to better the lives of all Texans.
