According to City of Borger officials, the refinery experienced an operational issue that resulted in a sulfur dioxide release this morning.

The refinery activated its site air monitoring team to make sure the quality of the air throughout the refinery and in the surrounding areas was safe.

All data indicated there was no cause for concern to the community.

The refinery returned to regular operating conditions at 11:45 a.m.
