SUNRAY, TX (KFDA) - Sunray Police are conducting their own investigation into former Sunray High School principal Sidney Whiteley who was arrested in Amarillo on Monday for drug possession.
Police executed a search warrant on a shop and vehicle reportedly belonging to Whiteley, located at 1020 Ave. J in Sunray.
Police said they seized drug paraphernalia, numerous syringes containing measurable amounts of substances believed to be controlled substances, numerous items of packaging material indicative to the delivery of controlled substances or illegal drugs, numerous cellular phones, a laptop, a tablet and a digital camera.
Officers also seized documents referring to people from outside the state.
Further investigation revealed a significant amount of luggage and clothing associated with the out-of-state documentation.
"All of these evidentiary items will require laboratory testing and data retrieval through experts in order to evaluate what, if any, criminal charges will stem from our investigation and search of the property," said Sunray Police Chief Tim Dean. "We will proceed and coordinate our investigation with other police agencies as needed. We want to identify who the out of state people are, their ages, where they are now, and ensure they are safe."
Police said this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
