United Way brings helping hands to nonprofits for "Day of Caring"

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - United Way of Amarillo & Canyon teamed up with Amarillo College and Xcel Energy for their annual Day of Caring on Friday.

The event lent the support of over 300 volunteers to various nonprofit organizations spread throughout the area.

Dr. Russel Lowrey-Hart, president of Amarillo College, said the event has a greater impact throughout the rest of the year.

""The Day of Caring is a chance for us to reflect on our community, our commitments to each other, and unify around the idea of kindness towards each other," said Dr. Lowrey-Hart.
