AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Volunteer Fire Departments are asking for donations to help them repair the fire trucks that have much ware and tear from fire season.

Blown out tires, damaged transmissions, broken pumps, clogged air filters, and more. Volunteer fire departments say damaged vehicles are an ongoing problem as fires continue to spark.

The Lefors Volunteer Fire Department has been battling the McClellan fire since yesterday, and has already suffered some damage.

"Just on this fire we've lost two pumps that pump our water off the back of our trucks," said Lefors Fire Chief Sy Brown. "We've lost two of them. One transmission in one of our main trucks, and last night, I think we're about on nine or 10 tires at this time."

Lefors isn't the only department in need. Volunteer fire departments Hoover and McLean have also taken damages.

"Tire damages, loosing transmission, just wear and tear," said David Tolleson, fire chief of McLean Fire Department.

Volunteer Fire Departments depend a lot on donations, and they are asking for your help so they can fix the trucks that help protect our communities.

You can drop off donations and your local volunteer fire department or visit their Facebook page.
