NICU nurses help make Halloween extra special for patients

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - For the second year in a row, Amarillo NICU nurses spent time making Halloween extra special for little ones and their families.

A baby's first Halloween is such a fun occasion. Parents dress up their babies and celebrate the spook-tacular holiday with their sweet little ones.

Today, the preemies at Northwest Texas Hospital's NICU were given the chance to dress up like all the other trick-or-treaters, thanks to the staff at the hospital.

The staff works every day to make sure each child is taken care of, and today was no different.

"And these babies just need somebody to snuggle with them," said Volunteer at Northwest NICU Dolores Pence. "I think it's so important that they have that, you know, have somebody just to cuddle up with them and talk to them."

Although the babies aren't able to be home on this holiday, their families will never forget the kind and compassionate nurses who made today special.
