A DPS Trooper seized 37 pounds of cocaine and almost five pounds of methamphetamine after a traffic stop in Carson County, Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Around 11:30 a.m., the trooper stopped a 2007 Dodge Nitro traveling east on I-40 near Groom, for a traffic violation.

The trooper then discovered multiple plastic-wrapped bundles of cocaine and two duct-taped bundles of methamphetamine inside a hidden compartment.

The illegal drugs are worth approximately $2.7 million.

Isaac Gonzalez, 22, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and was transported and booked into Carson County jail.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from Phoenix to Oklahoma City.
