Amarillo police investigating after collision leads to shots fired

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Amarillo police are investigating after two cars were in a collision and shots were fired last night.

Around 10:20 p.m., officers were sent to a shots fired call near 45th and South Coulter and a collision at 45th and Chandler.

When officers arrived, they found a white 2000 Buick that had hit a wooden utility pole and a red 2005 Dodge Ram that had hit two cars parked in a driveway, a fence and a storage building.

Officials say both cars had been driving north on Coulter and turning onto 45th when the vehicles collided near the intersection. Someone in the Buick then fired shots at the pickup as both cars continued driving.

Officials say the driver of the pickup then intentionally hit the passenger side of the Buick, causing both cars to lose control.

No one was injured in the incident, and the two people at the scene were released pending investigation.
