AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) -

Amarillo police are investigating after a vehicle was stolen while two children were inside.

Around 10:30 this morning, officers were called to a home in the 1400 block of North Roosevelt on a report of a kidnapping.

When officers arrived, they found that a 21-year-old female had left a white 2002 Toyota Sequoia in the driveway with a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old in the backseat.

When she came back outside, the car was gone with the children still inside.

The vehicle was then found parked at a church at 12th and North Fairfield about five blocks away.

The children were safe and returned to the woman along with the car.

This is an ongoing investigation, and police say there is currently nothing to indicate the the person who took the vehicle knew the children were in the back seat.
