AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Amarillo Police Department is searching for a suspect in an attempted robbery that happened yesterday afternoon.

Around 3:00 p.m., officers were called to a personal robbery at the 5600 block of Amarillo Boulevard East.

The victim says he was walking from a business to his car when he heard someone tell him to give them all of his jewelry.

He turned to see the suspect pointing a gun towards him.

Police say a witness drove up to the scene and drove his vehicle towards the suspect, hitting him with the front of the car. The suspect fired one shot which hit the driver's door and then fled the scene.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic male in his 20's about 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-4, weighing 120 to 130 pounds. Police say he was wearing a light colored baseball cap and a gray t-shirt.
