AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Amarillo police are urging residents to take preventative measures to secure their identification documents from criminals.

Police say criminals can find financial records or identifying information and use that information to open or access accounts.

In order to help residents secure their identification, APD partnered with the Better Business Bureau of Amarillo to shred documents today for residents.

More than 230 cars passed through today's event.

If you missed today's event, there will be another next April.

You can find more information on the event here.
