AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting at Benton Park earlier this week.

Officials say detectives with the Amarillo Police Department tracked down leads and found 18-year-old Christopher Cortez and 18-year-old Exavier Monteze Steward to be suspects in the incident.

Police say both men were involved in the robbery and shooting of a 17-year-old male at Benton Park on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Yesterday, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and found Cortez to be a passenger in the car. He was taken into police custody.

Steward was located by APD school liaison officers in the 3900 block of Westlawn and was also taken into custody.

Both men were booked into the Potter County Detention Center for aggravated robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
