AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) -

A settlement has been reached in a federal lawsuit filed on behalf of a disabled driver who claimed he was refused employment by an Amarillo trucking company.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed the suit against Flying Star Transport after learning the company allegedly didn't hire Robert Kallgren, a driver with more than 20 years of experience, because of a physical disability. The company continues to deny that as the reason for not offering employment.

Kallgren, an amputee, also claimed the company didn't explore with him any options to accomodate his disability.

According to court documents, the company has agreed to pay Kallgren $65,000 and take unspecified steps to further establish an anti-discriminatory workplace.
