AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Amarillo Police Department is asking for information that may help identify a man who evaded officers during an attempted traffic stop Monday.

Officers began pursuing the driver after witnesses said he was firing a gun while driving near Grand Street and Amarillo Boulevard. Police say he refused to stop and eventually blew a tire near NE 3rd Avenue before fleeing the area on foot.

A passenger in the car, identified as 20-year-old Mercedes Mireles, also tried to leave the scene but was caught by police. She was booked into the Randall County jail on three municipal warrants.

Police describe the suspect as a black male around 5'5" to 5'8" and his vehicle as a red Crown Victoria. Anyone with information is asked to call APD or Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400.
