AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) -

Amarillo Animal Management is looking for a few good homes for a litter of puppies left at the office's doorstep Thursday morning.

Director Richard Havens said a quick adoption of the pups will help combat overcrowding at the shelter.

"The puppies obviously came from someone who didn’t want them, and this is a prime example of owner irresponsibility,” Havens said. “AAM&W sees animals like these every day fill the City’s shelter and it can all be prevented by practicing responsible pet ownership by having your pets spayed or neutered.”

The puppies can be adopted at Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society located at 3501 S. Osage. The office is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
