AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) -

Authorities say a van stolen from an Amarillo home earlier this week - the second time the home has been robbed this month - was recovered during a traffic stop and has been returned to the owner.

Derrick Dewayne Davis, 29, was booked into the Potter County jail Tuesday, just hours after the van was reported missing from a home on S. Parker Street. Police said Davis was driving the van when officers spotted it near the 2000 block of Paramount Blvd and was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

On March 9, police say the same residence was broken into and a safe was stolen. The safe contained personal documents, metal bars and coins, among other items. An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400. Tips can also be left on line at www.amapolice.org.
