AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Boy Scouts of America Golden Spread Council teamed up with the High Plains Food Bank for their annual "Scouting for Food" event Saturday.
Troops went house-to-house in southeast and southwest Amarillo neighborhoods to collect food for those in need.
They were able to raise more than 7,000 lbs. of food for the High Plains Food Bank in just a few hours.
"We see truckload after truckload of cars rolling in one by one and these Boy Scouts leap out of the car and grab their sacks out of the back of the truck and put it into barrels and put it on the scale and they're excited to collect this food," said Emily Bell, the communications and marketing manager for the HPFB.
If your home was missed this morning, you can still drop off food donations at the High Plains Food Bank warehouse at 815 Ross St.
