One person dead after two vehicle overnight accident, victim's name released

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) -

One person is dead as the result of a wreck in the area of SW 6th and Adams street.

A Mitsubishi Mirage was eastbound on 6th at Adams and a Dodge Dakota was northbound on S. Adams, when one of the vehicles ran the red light.  

The Dakota hit the passenger side of the Mitsubishi Mirage. The passenger in the Mirage, Joseph Marricle, 40, of Wolfforth, Texas died at the scene as a result of injuries received in the collision. The driver of the Dodge was Richard Britten, 46, of Amarillo.

The driver of the Mirage was Arturo Hernandez, 29, of Amarillo.  

Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say both drivers showed signs of intoxication. The two men were booked into the Potter County Detention Center on the charge of Intoxication Manslaughter with a Vehicle.

The APD Traffic Investigations Unit continue to investigate the collision.

An autopsy has been ordered by Justice of the Peace Gary Jackson.
