AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) -

Authorities say a man suspected of an early December double shooting in California has been located and arrested in Amarillo.

The Amarillo Police Department says it received information Thursday about the suspect, Sadiki Shakur, 23, possibly being in Amarillo. Shakur was located at a restaurant in the 3300 block of South Washington Street and believed to have been inside a rented blue vehicle with out-of-state license plates.

Officers spotted a vehicle matching that description and maintained surveillance until it was stopped in the 400 block of North Fillmore. Shakur was then taken into custody without incident.

Shakur is linked to a Dec. 4 investigation in which a male was found shot in the chest and laying in the roadway near a Ventura restaurant just after 1 a.m. He was later pronounced dead.

Minutes after the victim was found, another man arrived at a Ventura hospital with serious injuries to his upper body. Investigators said both victims were connected to the same incident.

Ryan Michael Pierret, 22, was a passenger in the vehicle during Thursday's arrest, but Amarillo police say there is no information connecting him to the California homicide. Officers reportedly found a small quantity of marijuana in Pierret's backpack and was arrested.

Both men were booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
