DPS traffic stop leads to drug bust

CARSON COUNTY, TX (KFDA) - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized more than 17 pounds of methamphetamine after a DPS Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.

On Dec. 10, a DPS trooper stopped a 2016 Ford Edge traveling east on I-40 near Conway for a traffic violation.

The trooper then discovered eight vacuum sealed packages of methamphetamine inside the vehicle worth approximately $1.42 million.

The driver, Edgar Casteneda, 25, and passenger, Oscar Cota, 24, were arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

Casteneda and Cota were transported and booked into the Carson County Jail.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from Chula Vista, CA., to Oklahoma City.
