AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) -

Two people are hospitalized with life threatening injuries following a two vehicle crash in Amarillo.

The incident happened in the 7600 block of South Canyon Drive.

Police say the driver of 2007 Dodge Ram was southbound on I-27 when the driver lost control, veered into the inside lane and hit another car.

The pick up then crossed the grassy median and hit a guard rail. The driver of the another vehicle who was hit was not injured -- however, both occupants inside the pick up were ejected.

Investigators believe that the driver of the pickup was 42-year-old Alvin Garza of Amarillo and that his passenger was 28-year-old Adelino Joel Garza of Tulia.

Police say speed, alcohol, and failure to wear a seat belt are factors for the crash.

The incident remains under investigation and no charges have be filed.
