Two arrested in Dollar general robbery

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - UPDATE: Two people have been arrested and booked on two counts of robbery in connection to Tuesday's Dollar General robbery.

Tuesday, Nov. 22, at around 3:30 p.m. police say a Hispanic male entered the Dollar General on 403 S. Western. He approached the register with a handgun, then placed the gun on the counter and demanded money. The employee had suspicion that the handgun was a BB gun so refused to give the man any money. The suspect then shot the victim three or more times in the chest with the BB gun. The BB's did not penetrate the clothing, and the victim did not need medical attention.

Officers learned that that a witness saw a small Ford station wagon type vehicle leaving the area of the robbery. APD officers found a tan 1998 Ford Escort that had been abandoned in the alley in the 200 block of N. Alabama. The vehicle had collided with a meter and caused a gas leak.

The witness said three teenagers ran from the vehicle. One fit the description of the robbery suspect. Officers found a black hooded sweatshirt close to the abandoned vehicle. Around 3:45 p.m. officers found two suspects in the 2900 block of SW 2nd. Police determined that they were involved in the robberies and arrested Isaac James Kent Diaz,19 and Makayla Renee Almazan,18.

They were transported to the Potter County Detention Center and booked on two counts of aggravated robbery.

Police are still seeking the third person seen running from the vehicle.
