Holidays are some of the busiest times of year for the Coffee Memorial Blood Center, that's why NewsChannel10, Plains Dairy and United Supermarkets have teamed up for their annual holiday blood drive.

The blood center will be open early on Tuesday, Nov. 22, from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for this event.

Donors will receive the November Blaze Coffee t-shirt and a holiday t-shirt, a gallon of Plains milk and will be entered into a drawing for one of four one-year supplies of milk courtesy of Plains Dairy. There will also be drawings for four $75 gift cards from United Supermarkets.

Every donor must present a valid photo ID. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds if age 18 or over 125 pounds if 16 or 17 years old. Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years old with written parental consent) to donate blood.

About Coffee Memorial Blood Center

Coffee Memorial Blood Center covers 31 counties and 29 medical facilities in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles. The holiday season is difficult because regular donors are traveling, kids are out of school, relatives are visiting and therefore, they are not as available to come in to donate. However, due to increased travel, outdoor activities and sometimes even inclement weather, the risk for accidents and potential blood usage goes up. Losing a full day's draw by being closed on the actual holiday (Thursday for Thanksgiving so our staff can enjoy their families too) further compounds the issue.
