The Tulia Police Department continues to investigate an overnight fatal stabbing.
According to Chief of Police Steve Brush, the incident happened on Terry Drive around 9:30 p.m. Friday night.
Police say 24-year-old Jami Ortiz stabbed 27-year-old Tony Powell Jr. once in the chest. He was taken to Swisher Memorial Hospital where he later died.
Ortiz was booked into the Swisher County Jail.
The Texas Rangers are assisting the investigation. An autopsy is currently being done in Lubbock.
