POTTER COUNTY, TX (KFDA) - Amarillo police have charged an 18-year-old male who they believe was connected to a fatal shooting in north Amarillo.
The Amarillo Police Department says Daviar Terrell Johnson was arrested Tuesday on a Potter County warrant for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair in reference to the shooting.
He is currently being held in the Potter County jail on a $100,000 bond.
Witnesses to the Monday afternoon shooting said the victim, 25-year-old Kharyi Nichols, and another person were arguing in front of a home in the 3100 block of Oak Drive just before gunshots rang out.
Nichols was taken to an area hospital but later died from his injuries.
The Special Crimes unit is preparing to send the case to a grand jury.
