AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Authorities continue their search Monday evening for a suspect who shot and killed a man in front of a north Amarillo home earlier in the day.
Police have identified the deceased victim has 25-year-old Kharyi Nichols. Witnesses told responding officers Nichols and another person were arguing in front of a residence in the 3100 block of Oak Drive just before 1 p.m. when they suddenly heard gunshots.
Nichols was taken to an area hospital by way of a private vehicle but later succumbed to his injuries, officials said.
Officer Jeb Hilton with the Amarillo Police Department says the shooter was described as an 18-year-old black male. Hilton urges anyone with information to call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 378-9468.
Special Crimes has opened an investigation into the shooting.
