CARSON COUNTY, TX (KFDA) - The Texas Department of Public Safety reports one person has died and two have been injured following an accident on I-40.
Troopers say the wreck happened on I-40 near mile marker 85 in Carson County.
At approximately 8:50 p.m., the driver of a truck tractor semi-trailer, 57-year-old Bobby Mason, was traveling westbound on I-40 approximately eight miles east of Amarillo.
The driver of a passenger car, 48-year-old Tina Quinn, was traveling eastbound on I-40.
The passenger car left the roadway and crossed over the center median into the westbound lane into the path of the truck tractor semi-trailer.
Quinn crashed head on into the semi, resulting in her death.
Portions of the road were shut down for hours.
Mason and his passenger, 56-year-old Oneta Mason, were both transported to the hospital with injuries. Mason was treated and released but Oneta remains in critical condition.
The DPS reports Quinn was not wearing her seat belt.
Police officers from White Deer, Panhandle, Pantex, and Potter County were also called to the scene to assist.
